Union Ministry of HRD is contemplating implementation of a common entrance examination for all the central universities in India. This is being done with the aim of getting equal opportunities to all students despite the differences in their qualifying scores.

In the recent past, many colleges had set 100 per cent cut-off for select popular courses. In fact 129 out of 188 seats in Shri Ram College of Commerce in Delhi went to students from Tamil Nadu. And even out of these 129, 33 were from one particular college.

Commenting on the proposition, Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singhremarked that any entrance examination is competitive and it will elevate the burden of students applying in various colleges across the universities along with the pressure of another exam right after the 12th exam examination.
